Create your own ‘welcome’ gift box for a new arrival.
The birth of a baby is a very special event indeed. Whether you are a family member, friend or acquaintance, it is lovely to drop in with a little welcome gift.
By Kerstin.
Here in north Germany, we celebrate a new baby with our traditional brandy, and I think it is a nice gesture to include a little welcome gift too. Or perhaps the gift could be a pretty box to save the first possessions of the new arrival in, such as a first dummy for example.
A home-crafted gift box, with a closure that already exudes luck, is perfect for all this and is really easy to make too.
What you need:
• Mini Woodies stamp with dummy design
• Mini Woodies stamp with baby shoes design
• Woodies ink pad ‘Calm Cloud’
• Woodies ink pad ‘Pretty Pink’
• Coloured card in two different colours
• Scissors
• Glue
• Ribbon/string
This is how it’s done:
You can easily find a template for this style of box on the internet if you type in ‘clover leaf box’. I then chose my card colours to match the Woodies ink pad colours ‘Pretty Pink’ and ‘Calm Cloud’ and then I created my boxes accordingly.
I added a white paper band, decorated with mini dummies, to the little girl version of the box. For the blue version, I used a light grey satin ribbon and a blue/white string, which are held in place at the front of the box by a round tag. I decorated the tag using a Woodies stamp with baby shoes motif.
Of course, these designs are only two of the many creative possibilities, to how the box can be personalised. For example, a further idea might be to integrate the name and date of birth of the new baby.
I wish you lots of fun making your own box and by the way, a box like this is also great for last minute gifts, as you are sure to already have the supplies needed at home.
Lots of love, Kerstin
